Monday November 5th another p-day. It was nice to take things a little slower after our busy week-end.
We had a dinner appointment with the senior FHE group they have in The Dalles. The Seniors started this group about 20 years ago and they still meet every other week. they each take a turn having it at their house and giving a lesson and having refreshments. there are about 20 in the group. We were invited to a special thanksgiving dinner they were all having together. We had an appointment with another family in the evening. We met this wonderful family that wants to be active because their daughter was just baptized.

Tuesday after a few visits in the afternoon we had another meeting with Bishop Mullens' and he gave us permission to teach the first 3 lessons to the less actives we are working with. We are so excited because this gives us a chance to get them to make commitments and maybe return to activity.

Wednesday we had a few visits and we met a really neat lady that seems ready to return to church. She is so remarkable. I've never met anyone so unselfish and giving as she is. One thing she does is leave hot soup at this gas station for a homeless man. She is on a tight budget but on her walks she collects walnuts on the ground dries them and cracks them and gives them away as gifts. She makes those knitted dish rags and gives those away. She also makes this Marion berry jam and gives that as gift to people. She is so industrious. I'm looking forward to teaching her in the next few weeks

Thursday Don and I had our first zone meeting in Mt Hood, 25 miles west of the Dalles. The Zone leaders impressed me at how well prepared they were and how well they taught.

We also stopped at a park and took these pictures

Friday we had another first. Our first Zone conference. This was held in Vancouver, Washington. We had to be there by 9 am so we left at 7 am to make it on time. The meeting was great!! President Greer, his wife and the presidents assistants taught us about finding new investigators. We did a bit of role playing. On the way back we stopped at Multnomah Falls because the Elders with us wanted to stop

Saturday Don went to a sisters house to split wood for her so she could use it in her wood burner.
In the afternoon there was a baptism which we went to and in the evening the was a High Priest dinner for husbands and wives. The Stake President talked with us too. He spoke to us about the the office of the high priests and their responsibilities and how they were foreordained to be high priest and then he invited each high priest to ask themselves if they were fulfilling their potential. It was a good evening.

Sunday we had to be at church at 7:15 for ward council, so it was a really long day when we had a meeting. After the second sacrament meeting block we had a meeting with one of the ward mission leaders and he gave us a new list of people to visit.. We had invited the incredible woman for dinner and that was a great evening because we had the opportunity to teach her the first discussion. This was such a wonderful day for us.
