Sunday, October 28th The Dalles building was closed because of the sewers so we had the chance in the morning to go to the Goldendale ward. It is about 50 miles east of the Dalles in Washington. We met many more people and were welcomed warmly at this ward too. After their meetings were over we headed to Hood River a town about 25 miles west of the Dalles because both Dalles wards were meeting their for their meetings. Don and I both got to bear our testimonies. They only had sacrament meeting that day and after church we had an interview with President Greer and his wife. They just wanted to know how our first week went. They really gave us a shot in the arm. They spent quite a bit of time sharing, caring and helping us feel good about what we were doing. When we got home I made dinner and a dessert. After dinner the missionaries came over and reviewed with us how we can work together with them. They stayed and had dessert and played a couple games of Sequence. When they left I was exhausted and ready for bed.
Monday ,October 29th was our p-day and we had lots of errands. After a late lunch we went and visited a wonderful lady.We had a great visit just getting to know her a little and we gave her a message on gratitude from President Monson's conference talk "Consider the Blessings".
Tuesday after our morning schedule of a walk, breakfast, personal study & companion study
we went over to an elderly sister's house and while Don cleaned out her gutters. I talked with her and gave her a special message too. This is a sister who really needs some joy in her life she has so many trials right now.
Wednesday was our first experience with transfers. It was wonderful. There is a sister (Sister Cole) who sets up a couple of tables and provides a variety of food for the missionaries to eat. She had apples, home baked cookies,Halloween candy, pretzels and the makings for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.. She also had milk, cider and water to drink. It was wonderful to see these young men come together and have a short reunion with former companions and then leave for their new areas. The transfer took about an hour. When all had left except for our zone Brother Steward on the high council over missionary work took the 10 of us out to lunch at Spooky's (it;s a hamburger - pizza place) After lunch we headed home to prepare to teach a lesson in Goldendale. Then we had an appointment with Bishop Bishchoff he gave us a list to visit and now we are totally overwhelmed by the number of visits that need to be done. We didn't get home till 9:30 pm and the ride home was difficult because there were a lot of switchbacks and it was so dark.
Thursday we did a bunch of visits and everyone let us in to visit with them. We are meeting some incredible people. The visits are enjoyable and it is just a good experience as we meet new friends. I feel that the Lord is preparing these people to return to activity. Our job is to get them to start coming to church.
Friday we went to an Eagle project and after I took pictures and had everyone sign in I left to prepare for a visit with Kimberly and her family. Don stayed and helped them finish the project. He was totally in his element doing this service. In the afternoon Don and I went out and did a few visits and when we got home we made dinner and then Kim and Tony arrived in time to have dinner with us.
Horsetail Falls
Multnomah Falls
Bridge of the Gods
Saturday we went a day trip to Multnoma Falls. It was a little chilly and a bit misty from time to time but for the most part it was a beautiful day. The drive was absolutely beautiful with all the fall colors at their peak. We saw Horsetail Falls on our way to Multnomah Falls. They were Breathtaking. There is something about water that just makes everything more beautiful.
We went over the Bridge of the Gods and the view from there was one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen. You are so high up and you can see down both sides of the river and words just can't express the beauty.
It was Stake conference week-end and we were invited to have dinner with the Stake Presidency Saturday night. So I made dinner for Kim and Tony and we headed to the stake center for dinner and the adult session of conference. When we got home from the meeting the four of us played a few games of Sequence together. Sunday Kim and Tony left early so they could make it home for their afternoon stake conference and we headed off to our Stake meeting.
In the afternoon we went out and knocked on some more doors. In the evening we took a break and watched a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Another Great Week!!!
